BLACK OR WHITE

That's just the way it all goes isn't it?

In life it's very hard to find a balance (if not impossible). There's never that perfect grey with the same amount of black and white. It's either one or another. You either like it or you don't. You know or you don't. One day you're too happy and the next you're too sad. Specially if you're a girl like me but hey, let' not forget about our boys, they suffer from this lack of balance too.

But anyway, this is what this outfit reminded me of specially now that I've been trying to find which way to go with my life (couldn't you tell? 3 months away from blogging...lord) and having some big parts of it in the black side isn't very easy... But to be honest, I'm just happy that the biggest of them all is white.

BACK AROUND

Back in last January I was with my mum shopping at Zara and she saw this dark green dungaree skirt. She said it reminded her of when I was little and she used to dress me with these type of skirts. As I was trying it on I had to tell her 'Mom, it's not for me. I don't see myself in it...' She really wanted to give me that skirt to relieve those times.
Seven months later and I find myself buying the exact same type of skirt in yellow and getting out of my comfort zone just because I now love it so much.
That's fashion nowadays.

Fashion has been seen like a time machine. Trends from decades ago are coming back and with that a chance to relieve those times with a certain kind of modernism attached to it. It's fascinating how our tastes change alongside fashion. We don't like a certain type of clothing one season and the next it's all we can look at in our closet. It can be kind of scary how fashion changes our minds like that but seriously, who even cares?

NO SHADES OF WRITING

Writer's Block, 'A usually temporary psychological inability to begin or continue work on a piece of writing'.
When I started this blog I intended to deliver good pictures alongside some good writing related to them. But this can be a bit difficult when writing a post about an outfit.
So I finally bought this denim jacket that I had had the desire to do so for about two years and I thought that I'd make a post about it. But what would I write? There's nothing new you need to know about an oversized denim jacket. You already know it's a good basic and an essencial. It's good for those rushed mornings when you don't have time to elaborate an outfit. And it's definitely good if you don't feel like taking a purse with you. But everyone knows this so I find it quite frustrating because I wanna make a post about the jacket and not just having a little text saying 'I have a new jacket, here are some pretty pictures and some reasons why you need this in your closet'. So yeah I basically had writers block for this post but I really wanted to share it with you so I decided to write this weird text about my frustration with having nothing to write about.

10 TIPS FOR MOVING ON

So your future, you've got everything planned and it seems just perfect. Suddenly a storm comes and turns all these plans into dust and everything just seems hopeless and lost. Weather you've already been through something like this in your life or not, it's not difficult to assume that moving on seems to be the hardest thing you've ever done.
Me and my best friend Bruna can say we've been through something like this at least once in our lives and so I decided to join her and gather 10 hopeful helpful tips for getting out of this hard time.

1 - GRIEVE
Feel it. Don’t hold it back. Find the best way to let the frustration out. Yell your lungs out on top of a hill or into a pillow, cry it out and let the tears run as fast as they can, break some dishes, burn some papers, or if you prefer, open that bottle of wine. Whatever it is will help, just remember not to do anything crazy. Don’t let it out on the people you love and don’t do anything you will regret in the morning. Let it take over you and then you can move on.

2 - TAKE SOME TIME
You could use some time away from the world. You can use that time to just not care about anything or to figure your life out. Reflect about what happened. Ask yourself some questions like “What can I learn from this?” or “What do I want for my future now?”… You can also reflect about the person you were and the person you now want to become and how to. Use this time to do nothing at all or to find yourself again.

3 - GO OUT WITH FRIENDS
Your friends are the best distraction from the real world. Convince them to break the routine, get out of your comfort zone and do something memorable. Do you want a better way to relax and not care about anything than to do it with friends? You won’t find it! But if you do let me know.

4 - MAKE A CHANGE
Think about it. Why not? Get a hair cut and embrace your new self. Paint the walls a different color and welcome your new future. Make new friends and do different things. Get rid of the things that remix you of the pass and replace them with new exciting ones.

5 - CREATE NEW PROJECTS
If the future does not seem very certain it is time to dedicate yourself to new exiting things. Whether it is a project or a hobby you always wanted to get into, this is the perfect time to do it. Give your all to it and who knows where it will take you? It’s definitely a good distraction as well and the more you love it the better!

6 - MAKE NEW GOALS
It’s time to figure out what to do next. What you wanted didn’t work out so find something similar or something alternative that you also love. Get all those life goals out of the box and start doing something to make them come true.

7 - FIND OTHER WAYS
If you liked your plan so much then find other ways to make it work. It might have not worked this time but it can in the future. Start by recognizing what was wrong and work it from there.

8 - IMPROVE YOURSELF
Find time to work on yourself, Improve your skills and learn new ones. Remember that education is key to a good future so work on those that will take you far and towards your goals and make sure you’re well informed about the world you want to be a part of.

9 - LOOK FORWARD
It is very important to only look forward. Only look back to learn your lessons but don’t stay for too long. Remember, the future is ahead.

10 - BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
No need for an explanation, right?

I really hope these tips can help you if you ever go through something like this.

LESS IS MORE

Robert Browning once wrote 'Less is more' in one of his poems and it's like this tree words got stuck into society's mind. It is used by architects, artists, musicians and even common people as inspiration for their life choices. I love the way this expression has been used in fashion. Also used alongside the minimalist trend, fashionistas have this in mind when following the simple path of fashion and go for a simple look. Whether it's on the outfit or on the makeup, this trend has been a true statement in these past few years.

And so I decided to follow that simple rule for this outfit. What could go wrong with a white shirt, jeans and black shoes and bag? Absolutely nothing!

LEFT THE BLACK IN THE CLOSET

I find it dressing for summer way more difficult than winter. I usually only wear t-shirts since it gets too hot to wear shirts so usually I wear the same kind of outfit every day, and I don't vary on colors either. A t-shirt and black jeans is my go to summer outfit. This spring I decided to get a little riskier when it comes to buying clothes. Didn't do a great job except for the boyfriend jeans.

With all that said, I decided to change a bit and get out of my comfort zone with this outfit. I decided to leave the black on the closet and take the boyfriend's out as well as some items that were resting on the back of the closet for too long.

HAPPY PLACE

I finally decided to start blogging again. It's been almost two years since I stopped and this time I have much more motivation and ideas to keep this blog running.
I've decided to explore my creative side. You can still expect fashion related posts but these will be combined with photography, creating editorial like posts as well as outfit shoots and some other exiting stuff that are still to come.
I hope it works out this time and I hope you'll have as much fun as I will!

For this outfit shoot I chose one of my favorite places on this earth. The D. Luís I bridge. On it's top table you can see almost the entire city of Porto and it's such a breathtaking view. The sight of this beautiful view combined with the thrill of being so up high from the ground makes crossing the bridge such an amazing experience, no matter how many times I do it. I can easily call this one of my happy places.
